Emergencies and when not to use the portal

Updated Sep 10, 2026Verified Sep 10, 2026

Video visits and secure messages are not for emergencies. If you are having a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. Do not use the portal for anything time-sensitive; messages are answered during the practice’s normal hours.

  • Chest pain, trouble breathing, severe allergic reaction, or a severe injury: call 911.
  • A reaction at an injection site that is spreading, hot, or lasts more than 48 hours: call the practice by phone.
  • Questions about dosing or side effects that can wait: send a message.
